Microsoft flow filter query odata date

Basically I am doing a Get Items and attempting to filter the data based on a date range. I have come across MANY different suggestions and have attempted them all with no luck. The Get Items works properly with no query and returns everything, but I want to filter based on passed in dates.

I have tried many different options for converting the date values such as datetime'fromDate' with no luck. Thanks for any help. Go to Solution. View solution in original post. Once i get these itemsi will need to check each item if expiry condition has been meet something like expiry minus today date equlas 30 days then send notifications.

I think there is something wrong with the formula that you provided. It is no simple to calculate the difference between two dates in Microsoft Flow currently. If you want to use OData query within "Get items" action to filter these items, I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:.

However as my date range is variable upon user select it could be for days, weeks, months even years. The solution would require to pull more records than needed. I have implemented my own workaround and created an int column within my date where by my MetricDate is converted to int here, that way i can query between two int ranges in the ODATA filter and this is working as expected now.

Message 3 of 3.Is there any way to set an ODATA filterquery to filter all records where some field is less than or equal to today's date? Tried searching around and couldn't find much on the topic. Hi bangorkeith. The data is stored in a SharePoint list, in a Date formatted column. The following error is returned when I test the flow:. The provided value is of type 'Null'.

I had been attempting this with an ODATA filter query directly in the "Get Items" action from SharePoint, but the workaround there was ineffective checking for a default "End Date" value set far in the future; never was able to get it to filter based on "Join Date".

I assume all three of these filters would need to be combined in one "Filter Array" action for this to work properly, but I'm unsure how to go about doing that. Syntax also seems to be an issue, as evidenced by the above quote.

Even if we got past those issues, would it be possible to pull the "Email" column from any item left and use it in assigning an Approval? I'm unclear if the "Filter Array" action actually filters and edits the array output of "Get Items", or if the Body is it's own filtered output and the input array is unchanged.

Hi rich.

The "Filter Array" action actually filters not edits the array output of "Get Items", the Body is it's own filtered output and the input array is unchanged.

This seems very complex. I have a daily schedule that simply gets the result in the Get Items Filter.

Seems like it should be pretty simple, but while the Flow Checker says our expression is OK, the Flow fails claiming that the filter is invalid.

First, to get the "today plus one" timestamp, I added an "Get future time" action. As shown below, this is working fine and produces the timestamp in what should be an appropriate format T If we remove the filter, the Flow runs, but obviously gets all of the items from the list. In the output of that, I can see that the StartDateTime field is being read in a slightly different shorter format:.

I wish there was an authoritative and comprehensive reference, or that Flow would do a better job of identifying those errors before letting you save.

Here is the querry and the results using a compose variable to format the date time from the SP get item trigger:. The formatted date string under Microsoft Flow can't be matched exactly with the date string under the SharePoint Server side, this should be considered as a current limitation of Microsoft Flow or saying the Flow service OData query.

Using 'le' or 'gr' OData operator with the date string should work under the SharePoint Filter query. Besides, dynamic content should not work under the filter query, we should add the actual string with single quotes to make it work.

As a workaround, please consider add a filter Array action, then take use of formatdatetime function to format both the Date from SharePoint list and the date you would like to compare in the same date format. Yep, I can agree that the dateTime format in sharepoint does not work and returns a error code. So I spent a day beating my head against a wall on this. I don't know exactly how these are created but when you have field names in sharepoint with spaces and other characters it will change the internal field name.

Great Suggestions! I'll now try to get the rest of it going. A similar use case is to query on a specific date converting it to datetime rather than today, which can be achieved with this expression for 1 May in this example.

Can you post a new question on this please. This is a long thread where a number of issues have been raised. For clarity, it would be best to start fresh with a new post.
